Peng-Hui Wang, Bassoon
Peng-Hui Wang was born in Taiwan. She started her first bassoon lessons at the age of nine with Jhen-Jhen Guo. From 2006 to 2009 she studied bassoon at the Tainan National University of the Arts of Taiwan with Jia-Hua Hsu. During those studies, Peng-Hui Wang won the First Prize of the 2009 National Music Competition of Taiwan. After moving to Germany in 2009, she obtained her Bachelor at the Stuttgart Academy of Music and Performing Arts in 2015, followed by a Masters Degree in 2017, both with Marc Engelhardt. In the summer semester of 2016, she was an Erasmus student of Carlo Colombo at the CNSMD de Lyon. Also in 2016, she won the Third Prize of both the Carl Wendling Chamber Music Competition and the Lions Club Chamber Music Competition, playing as part of a piano, clarinet and bassoon trio. Peng-Hui Wang has also gathered orchestral experience through her internship at the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra and by playing in the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn in 2013/2014. She has also played in several festivals, such as »Musique en Ré« on the Ile de Ré. Peng-Hui Wang has had the possibility to meet and work with many composers during her studies and has pursued her interest in contemporary music by premiering pieces. This ultimately resulted in her participation in the Klangspuren Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie in Tyrol, which inspired her to apply for the International Ensemble Modern Academy’s Master’s Degree Programme.
