Yu-Ling Chiu, Percussion
Chiu, born in Taiwan, obtained her Master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2016. In the Netherlands, Chiu has been invited to play with many Dutch ensembles, including the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble and INSOMNIO. In Taiwan she has performed with the Taiwan Philharmonic, Philharmonia Moment Musical, NTNU Symphonic Band, China Youth Corp Wind Orchestra and Ensemble 1002. In addition, she also attended the 7thTaiwan International Percussion Convention in 2011 with Ensemble 1002. Yu-Ling Chiu was awarded the second prize and the Adi Mootz Prize for the best interpretation of ›Rain Tree‹ by Toru Takemitsu with the Insomnia Percussion Trio at the 2012 International Percussion Competition in Luxembourg. She has been invited to perform in many projects with her Insomnia Percussion Trio, such as the NJO Summer Academy, AAA Festival Muziek en Kunst in 2015 and »China Here«. She has studied under the tutelage of Jer-Huei Chen, Arnold Marinissen, Nick Woud, Gustavo Gimeno, Peter Prommel, Ramon Lormans, Richard Jansen and Mark Braafhart. Currently she is studying for her concert examination at the Frankfurt am Main Academy of Music and Performing Arts, where she is taught by Rainer Römer and Jürgen Friedel.
