Elnaz Seyedi Kourayim, Composer
Elnaz Seyedi was born in Tehran in 1982 and studied computer sciences at the Azad University in Teheran from 2000 to 2005. She also studied music theory and composition with Alireza Mashayekhi. From 2007 to 2017, she studied composition with Younghi Pagh-Paan and Jörg Birkenkötter at the Bremen Academy of the Arts, with Caspar Johannes Walter at the Basel Music Academy and with Günter Steinke at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen. She attended master courses with Salvatore Sciarrino, Carola Bauckholt, Uroš Rojko, Michael Finnissy and Dimitri Papageorggiou, among others. She has received awards and scholarships such as the Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann-Scholarship of the City of Cologne and the Ensemble Phoenix Basel Competition prize in 2017 as well as a DAAD Scholarship in 2016. Her music has been performed at numerous festivals such as the Witten Days of New Chamber Music, the Acht Brücken Festival in Cologne, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik, Zeiträume – Biennale für Neue Musik und Architektur Basel, the DASTGAH Festival in Hannover, Ciclo de Música Contemporánea de Lugo in Galicia, the Festival Leicht über Linz, the Biennale für aktuelle Musik in Bremen, the student Off-Program at the Donaueschingen Music Days, the Next Generation Festival at ZKM Karlsruhe and the Klangwerktage in Hamburg, among others, as well as in Iran, France, Poland, Greece, Spain, Italy and the USA.
