Jae A Shin, Violin
Jae A Shin was born in Korea. At the age of eight, she began playing violin, completing the Sunhwa Arts Middle School and High School on a scholarship. She gave many concerts with youth orchestras as a section leader and concertmaster; at the Eumyeon Competition and other chamber music and solo competitions for young musicians, she won first prizes.
Jae A Shin went on to study violin at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where Nana Jashvili and Jacek Klimkiewicz were her violin teachers and her chamber music teachers included Vladimir Mendelssohn, Evgeny Sinaisky and Thomas Hoppe. She also completed a master’s degree in new music at the Folkwang University in Essen, studying with Barbara Maurer and Günter Steinke. During her studies she was concertmaster of the university orchestra, playing under the baton of Giordino Bellincampi. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with distinction, has worked intensely with many composers in the field of new music, giving world performances and making recordings of numerous solo and chamber music works.
