Raimonda Skabeikaite, Conductor
The conductor, composer and music educator Raimonda Skabeikaitė was born in 1991 in Mažeikiai, Lithuania and has been living in Graz, Austria since 2013. In May 2022, she won the 5th International Nino Rota Conducting Competition. In November 2021, she won first place at the 3rd Città Brescia - Giancarlo Facchinetti Competition for orchestra conductors. During her studies in Lithuania, she participated in several competitions as a composer. In 2012, she won the 1st Prize of the choir composition competition Vox Juventutis ‘12 with the choral piece ›Lydint tekančią saulę‹. A year later, she was once again the winner of the choir composition competition Vox Juventutis ‘13 with the work ›Lux Mundi‹. From 2013 onwards, she studied choral and orchestral conducting at the University of Performing Arts in Graz (KUG) with Johannes Prinz, Wolfgang Bozic, Marc Piollet and Wolfgang Dörner. She finished her master’s degree in orchestral conducting in November 2019 and stayed in Graz since. Raimonda Skabeikaitė has been teaching score reading, as well as conducting practice at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz since 2018. The most important areas that interest the conductor are the performance and conceptualisation of contemporary art, as well as music education and public accessibility of music, which could bring music creators, performers and listeners closer together.
