Robyn Blair, French Horn
Inspired by her hometown, Edinburgh, Scotland, Robyn Blair loves to be immersed in sounds and stories with her horn. She was an Artist-in-residence in Munich through the local artist residency programme from July to September 2022, improvising and performing music written for her by John Kenny and Etienne Rolin at the Gasteig HP8 hall. Following this, in September 2023 she was performing and recording an improvised horn concerto with Etienne Rolin in Bordeaux. Robyn Blair was a founding member of the multiple award-winning ensemble Connaught Brass, which has played in London at Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St John's Smith Square, King’s Place, on tours in Switzerland (including at the Lucerne Festival), in France, and the Netherlands, on the radio with a live broadcast from the Concertgebouw’s Spiegelzaal. She will be returning to Lucerne as a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy. Robyn Blair has also previously played as a London Sinfonietta artist, and orchestrally with the London Chamber Orchestra, East London Music Group, Luminaire Orchestra, and Orchestra for the Earth. In the musical theatre field, she has played ›My Fair Lady‹ in Edinburgh, Southampton, and Bristol, and ›Charlie and the Chocolate Factory‹ in Edinburgh and Milton Keynes. Alongside playing, Robyn Blair has taught at the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London, presented workshops for SEN children through The Musician’s Company, and has been a guest horn coach for the National Youth French Horn Ensemble Great Britain. Outside of music, Robyn Blair is eager to live Frankfurt, buy a traditional Dutch bicycle with multiple locks, and challenge herself with the local bouldering routes.
