Gabriele Mastrototaro, flute
Gabriele Mastrototaro was born in Bari, Italy, in 2003. After completing his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorio Umberto Giordano in Foggia, he is currently attending the Stuttgart Academy of Music in Davide Formisano's flute class. He has played with ensembles such as the Studio Musikfabrik (Cologne), the Reactive Ensemble (Stuttgart), the Parco della Musica Ensemble (Rome) and the Six Memos Ensemble (Bari). As a guest performer, he has had the opportunity to work with orchestras like LaFil in Milan, at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, the SWR Symphony Orchestra and the Stuttgart State Orchestra, performing in concert halls such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna, the Teatro Piccolo in Milan, the Beethoven-Saal and State Opera in Stuttgart and the Grand Theater in Shanghai. As soloist, he has played works by J. S. Bach, Taffanel and Busoni with orchestras such as the Cappella Tübingen, the Orchestra Filarmonica Pugliese and the Orchestra Sinfonica Umberto Giordano. In December 2021, he won the Angelo Persichilli Flute Competition in Rome; in February 2023, he was the second prize winner at the Liverpool International Flute Competition.
