Leh-Qiao Liao, conductor
Leh-Qiao Liao was born to Taiwanese parents and raised in Germany. From an early age, he was enthusiastic about new music, playing as a violinist and pianist with the Studio Musikfabrik, the youth ensemble of the Ensemble Musikfabrik. With them, he performed twice at the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music. He is the founder and artistic director of the INprogRES-Ensemble, a young new music ensemble with which he performed at the Moers Festival and the Festival Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano. He is particularly interested in music education projects and is always looking for new ways to inspire children and young people to enjoy contemporary music. During his studies he worked with various orchestras and ensembles, including the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Filarmonica de Stat Dinu Lipatti Satu Mare in Romania, the Ensemble Musikfabrik, the Remix Ensemble, the International Contemporary Ensemble and the JACK Quartet. He received important inspiration from master classes with Peter Rundel. Leh-Qiao Liao is also interested in contemporary vocal music and has worked with the Düsseldorf-based vocal ensemble Rheinstimmen. He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in orchestral conducting with Rüdiger Bohn at the Robert Schumann Academy in Düsseldorf.
Leh-Qiao Liao is a fellow of the Kunststiftung NRW.
