Patrícia Pinheiro, oboe
Inspired by her grandfather's love of storytelling through the oral tradition of Portuguese songs, Patrícia Pinheiro developed a passion for telling her own stories, both with and without the oboe. After completing her Bachelor's degree in Portugal, Patrícia Pinheiro moved to Germany at the age of 21, where she obtained her Master's degree from the HfMDK in Frankfurt. Since then, she has participated in numerous projects, collaborating with orchestras such as the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, the Philharmonie Leipzig, the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig, the Harzer Theater, Ensemble Ulysses, Ensemble Reflektor and others. She has also had the pleasure of performing at festivals such as Festival Manifeste in Paris, the Kunstfest Weimar, the Altonale, Warsaw Autumn and more. Patrícia Pinheiro has also been involved in interdisciplinary projects, including a production of ›Falstaff‹ at the Staatstheater Gießen and more recently ›Solastalgia‹ at the Schauspiel Frankfurt, a project that sparked her interest in improvisation and electronics. Her love of improvisation has grown beyond the oboe, and this past year, she collaborated and performed in Tarek Atoui's ›Extended Playground‹ exhibition at the GFZK Leipzig. Since 2022, Patrícia Pinheiro has been an academician at the Bühnenakademie TONALI, where she has developed various educational and social projects, including work with schools in Hamburg and her solo concerto for oboe and electronics. She is currently utilizing a grant from TONALI to create an artistic intervention project called ›À Mesa‹ in Portugal. Passionate about life and driven to make a difference, Patrícia Pinheiro has been creating social projects since 2015, bringing art and music to hospitals and associations such as APPACDM and Pais em Rede. In Germany, she has collaborated with initiatives like »Über den Tellerrand« and the German Film Museum in Frankfurt, where she works primarily with migrant groups as an independent collaborator. In September 2023, she participated in a residency called »Urban Citizenship«, where she was awarded a creative grant and implemented artistic interventions in the cities of Dessau and Berlin. In her free time, she enjoys learning new crafts, from ceramics to embroidery, taking on DIY projects, and exploring cities without a map.
Patricia Pinheiro is a fellow of the Kunststiftung NRW.
